Even though summer is our favorite time of year, we make sure that when the summer ends, the fun continues! When our campers have days off from school during the year, we offer School’s Out Camp afterschool enrichment courses. From themed activities to swimming to games and more, our youth programs feel like camp all year long!

Is your camper looking for something fun to do with friends when they are out of school? Excellent! Drop off your camper at the JCC for an enriching, fun, camp experience where they will have opportunities to learn, play, and connect with peers. Each day, campers will either go on a field trip or participate in a special on-site programs as well as other programs such as swimming, art projects, games, science experiments, and more! Each day with a camp-style morning circle and icebreakers to get everyone comfortable and engaged before we start our day of adventure. Campers provide their own dairy lunches and we provide healthy snacks. Camp is from 9am – 4pm each day with options for Sunrise Care (8am – 9am) and Sunset Care (4pm – 5pm) with early sign up only. Make sure to sign up today before spots run out!

School’s Out camp day runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Optional drop-in care called “Sunrise” and “Sunset” is available from 8:00 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm at $7/hour

March 2017

March 10: International Day of Awesomeness
Since 2007, March 10th has been dedicated to all people being awesome! To celebrate our awesomeness, we’re going to attempt to break some Camp Shai and JCC World Records. Officials from the International Day of Awesomeness Executive Symposium (IDEAS for short) will be on-site to record these historical events. Don’t miss your opportunity to be awesome!

March 27: The Knights of Shai (On-Site)
The Knights lived up to a code and where some of the most fit individuals in all of Europe. We’re going to partake in knightly training and each camper will create their own coat of arms.

March 28: Bowling (Field Trip)

We’re headed to Monaco Lanes for a session of bowling!

March 29: Imagination Map (On-Site)
Come to camp with your creative caps on! We’re going to imagine a new town and create it using recyclables from your home. By the end of the day we will have a giant map of our new imagination town.

March 30: Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum (Field Trip)
A museum docent will welcome you to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. After an introduction and viewing of an 8-minute film highlighting Colorado’s Aviation Endeavors, the docent will lead you on a walking tour of the museum focusing on the history and science of flight. In addition, the group will have an opportunity to construct balsa-wood airplanes and fly them in the hangar.

March 31: Jungle book Performance @ MACC (On-Site)
Join us for a Production of The Jungle Book at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center attached to the JCC!

April 2017

April 3: Dr. Seuss Day (On-Site)
Come play Dr. Seuss themed games, read some classic Dr. Seuss Books, and create some Dr. Seuss inspired Art!

April 10: Colorado Pride (On-Site)
Did you know that the highest paved road in the world is in Colorado? Learn some more awesome things about the great state of Colorado and design a new flag for Colorado.

April 12: Recycled City (On-Site)
Using recycled materials, we’re going to imagine and create our own miniature city! We will be collecting materials leading up to this day. Please feel free to bring any clean recyclable materials to the J with you child.

April 13: Hawk Quest (On-Site)
Hawk Quest is coming to Camp Shai with real live (trained) birds of prey! In this participatory program, students are able to observe the unique tools of the owl, the incredible talons and six-foot wingspan of the eagle, the aerodynamic features of the falcon, and the precision flying of the hawk.

April 14: Wings over the Rockies (Field Trip)

The Seder is an important part of the Passover Holiday. What a better way to experience a Seder than by adding a little chocolate and a lot of fun!
